MEDICAL FUNDS DRIVE! -- Thursday May 14th, 2009
Hello everyone!
As you might expect, this year's "kitten season" has seen a record number of street kittens finding their way to Blistered Whiskers. Currently we have over 100 felines at our shelter (not counting those with our dedicated foster care team).
Many of these animals have been abandoned by their owners as the economy has created a whole new generation of "foreclosure felines".
BWI medical supplies have been dangerously depleted...especially antibiotics and vaccines. We are able to obtain lower cost medicines in Mexico, so despite the "swine flue blues" and "narco violence" a brave team of BWI volunteers is planning a trip south of the border to replenish Rx supplies.
Hopefully you will be able to help with a financial donation.
Last Fall many of you contributed to our first ever fund drive. And yes we
succeeded in reaching our goal of "$1000 in One Week!"
Thank you all so much. This time we have two weeks to get ready for the next expedition. Let's make it "Two Grand in Two Weeks!"
Anyway, we at Blistered Whiskers appreciate all of you for being part of our extended family and for helping us minister to these defenseless critters.
If you are able to donate, you can check out our website for a PayPal button: www.blisteredwhiskers.org ... or if you would like to send a check, please make it out to Blistered Whiskers Inc, and mail to: 8190 W Deer Valley Rd, Suite 104-294, Peoria, AZ 85382-2126.
Also, don't forget to use "iGive.com" as your web search engine, and select Blistered Whsikers for your targeted non-profit organization. BWI will receive 2 cents per search for a short period of time.
Thanks again for your encouragement and support.

Help! -- Sunday October 19th, 2008
Hello pet lovers!
Blistered Whiskers is in dire need of volunteers and donations. The funds are low as more money is going in than going out - which of course means there are more cats coming in than going out as well.
Do you have any ideas for fundraisers? We are toying with the idea of having a pancake breakfast on either a Saturday or Sunday in November - in the backyard of Blistered Whiskers. If we have 15 people bring 4 people each, and charge $10-15 for an "all you can eat" breakfast, that would help keep Blistered Whiskers every day operations (i.e. litter, food, etc.) afloat for the month of November by bringing in around $600-900.
Depending on the outcome of this event, it might become a monthly fundraising event.
Do you think you can bring 4 guests? Email us at blisteredwhiskers@gmail.com to give any ideas or tips!
Also - of course, if you are in California, PLEASE vote YES on Prop 2!
Revamped website! -- Tuesday October 7th, 2008
Greetings Blistered Whiskers supporters! I wanted to issue an official announcement to let everyone know that the website is in the process of being revamped and updated (pictures, stories, etc.). Also, we have set up a new email response system so you will receive prompt responses to your inquiries!
Thanks for your continued support!
Want to Help? -- Friday December 14th, 2007
Do you want to help Blistered Whiskers? Other than volunteering, there are many ways to help. For instance, shopping online can also donate money to Blistered Whiskers. All you need to do is go to http://www.igive.com/html/login.cfm and make yourself a member. When it asks for your cause or charity, make sure to select Blistered Whiskers. Then when you go to buy any items online, buy them through that account and a certain percent of that money will be donated to Blistered Whiskers. You can also just visit stores and our organization may have the chance to win $1000. Please help us out. Just by joining igive will donate $5 to your cause. We need the money to help our kittens so please help us!
HR.767 Bill -- Sunday November 25th, 2007
Last month, the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously passed H.R.767, a bill that would promote the killing of "harmful nonnative species," which the bill defines as "any species that is not native to that ecosystem and has a demonstrable or potentially demonstrable negative environmental or economic impact in that region."
Officially called the Refuge Ecology Protection, Assistance, and Immediate Response Act (or REPAIR Act), H.R.767 includes feral cats as one of the species targeted for destruction. The bill would place no restrictions on the species that may be killed or the methods used to eliminate them, and allow the federal government, using taxpayer money, to enlist hunters and trappers as the exterminating agents.
It is easy to let your Senators know that you want them to vote against this bill should you choose to do so: http://ga0.org/campaign/hr767?rk=O1L6h5K1ObiKW
